for scrapping's sake.......
almost two weeks ago i took some time out, and did some blog-hopping. the scrapbooker that has had the most influence on me and that made me really fall in love with inks and stamps, Jowilna Nolte, had just posted this layout on her blog.
i immediately emailed her and asked if i could scrap-lift it. it was just an amazing layout. she was kind enough to say yes.
and the layout above is my version. i wanted so badly to use the Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue collection again, and as i seriously did not have any travel photos, but loads of my cousin's youngest son that matched some of the papers perfectly, i decided that it was exactly what i was going to do! scrap for scrapping's sake! just because i love it!
this layout sat on my desk in an 80% state of completion since 7 March. almost 2 weeks to the day! i did the basic layout and the techniques, and then Marius was done at the shop, and i had to jump in to assist with the renovations. as you must all know by now, it had been a whirlwind of renovating and expanding the shop, a seemingly never ending cycle of making dust, cleaning it, making more dust, cleaning it, etc etc. i finally managed to calm the storm inside the shop (and inside of me) and finished the layout.
i used very, very old naked chipboard Making Memories alphas for the title. i painted them with a layer of Terra Cotta Paint dabber, then a layer of Flamingo Liquid Pearls. then i covered them completely with a thick layer of Stickles. when that was dry, i added pearls, using Liquid Pearls and Dimensional Pearls by Ranger. i love those products. they are just amazing!
you can see the circle of liquid pearls also around the "original" stamped circle. amazing how they come out so "pearl-like"!!!! seriously, it gets me every time. all the papers are from Graphic 45 - even the cardstock! i used one of my favourite stamps on some of the stars that i cut with my Fiskars cutter and shape template, and the circles were all cut with my Cuttlebug. once again, apart from the circle "blings" all i used was paper, ink and stamps! all these products are available at www.scrapbookstudio.co.za. i loved doing this layout. i had such a wonderful weekend, and i feel so alive - i will share it all with you, i am just trying to find the right words and i am still processing all of it. all i can say is that He lives............
