hmmmmm.....
well
a couple of people have asked me the past 10 days why I am not sharing tips and techniques and layouts and making fun videos to keep people busy and entertain them with crafting stuff during the lead up to and now during 21-day LOCKDOWN in South Africa.
my answer is simple:
there are hundreds of my fellow crafters doing that.
you can also follow Scrapbook Studio's Blog, YOUTUBE Channel, join the WA Broadcast Group or follow the Facebook Page and get loads of information there, paired with inspiration and other creative ideas.
i simply have no desire to do anything frivolous or lighthearted, at this moment in time.
my only desire is to EDUCATE people about FLATTENING THE CURVE at this stage.
i understand 100000% that people are processing this in different ways.
there is no right or wrong way to process this - it is NEW territory. there is no "white paper" for this.
there are those who see this as a 3 week holiday.
there are those, like me, who have staff to pay, overheads etc and although TRUSTING the Lord completely, being REAL about the devastating effect this disease will have on millions in SA and around the world.
there are those who see this as a way to escape payment on a debt incurred.
there are those who see this as an opportunity to craft as much as possible while being able to work from home if they are in essential services (or any other "work from home" situation) - i truly GET that!!!
there are those who are statistics of layoffs, companies closing (EDCON - my heart BLEEDS for my clients and friends who were employed there)
there are those who have tested POSITIVE for COVID-19 and don't want to tell ANYONE for fear of victimization. i won't share the Social Media Posts of people in JEFFREYS BAY and other places, warning what they will do if their neighbour is positive or anyone they were in contact with.
there are those on the FRONTLINE who need to get up every day while others make silly jokes (of course their way of dealing with this - I am not judging, merely stating a fact)
there are those who will probably NEVER leave their homes again after this for fear of being shamed for NOTHING - shame on the "shamers" in our society!!
there are those who are simply mourning.
there are those who are profiteering from this situation.
there are those who are brainstorming, assisting with gathering information, developing vaccines, racing to get SOCIAL grants out to our most VULNERABLE people - bet you did not know that until a year or two ago MY PARENTS had to stand in a queue to collect their SASSA old age grants because they became a statistic after working their whole life and then lost everything.
there are those who are trying their best to keep everyone positive and level headed.
and so, from observing news reporting, Social Media Groups and posts from friends, i can go on and on and on...
then, in the midst of this, of course, there is just the seemingly impossible task of sorting out my table. the table i see each time i walk through this room.
and i stand amazed at how the South African Government is tackling the "seemingly impossible task" of governing and managing the inevitable impact COVID-19 will have on our people.
they are tackling it one day at a time - 21 days ahead.
so i am going to take my queue from them in absolute awe and admiration...
one day at a time, i will tackle this space.
and at the RIGHT time, this space will be ready for creativity, which i will then share.
until then, i rest in the below assurance from the BIBLE
