mister Huey's and Heidi Swapp
soooooooooooo.................i am on a roll!!! LOL! i was cleaning my desk yesterday and i found a load of photos that i printed ages ago that have been following me, begging to be scrapped, but i have just not had the inclination to tackle them. you know the photos i am talking about - the lonely ones, the original ones, or the ones that there are only one of............so, i decided to make that my mission for this week! i grabbed 3 random photos from the pile, and decided that i will scrap them as they are - no editing, making bigger or smaller copies, just the ones i have!
i often think that we look at some of the professional scrappers' layouts and i for one, get so intimidated - are my photos nice enough, the right size, the right shading etc that we forget to just scrap for the reason we are supposed to scrap - preserving memories!
anyway! this photo was taken at the first ever Scrapbook Convention i attended in 2007. Heidi Swapp taught a class. i had been scrapping for less than 3 months when i attended. i was hooked on her products, and her style - but more her handwriting! she had a few "fonts" patented, and i just remember thinking (and i still do) that i would LOVE to be able to write like that! she even wrote a "how to" book on how to learn how to write almost like her! how did this page come about? these are all left over elements from this layout. i am planning on using Mister Huey's mists on the next few pages i make in different ways, and i thought that i would start with this one! i just misted the whole background with Mister Huey Clay, and then i added splatters of Mister Huey Silver and Mister Huey Leaf Green
i so wish you could see the texture of the paper with the mists on it! like velvet! anyway, i then sanded and matted my photo. i used Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid to stamp on my photo. (this is a Heidi Swapp Stamp - Memory File) the stamp above the photo is also a Heidi Swapp stamp.
i cut the butterfly with my Cuttlebug ( they are on special!!) and completely covered it with some stickles - just love my stickles!!! by the way - did you know that Scrapbook Studio has 65 different colours of Stickles in stock? go look for yourself!
the title was also cut with my Cuttlebug - i used a Lifestyle Crafts font - and yes, you guessed right - it is Heidi Swapp's handwriting font! LOL! the journaling block is also from the Memory File stamp set and i stamped the "remember" again in the orchid Brilliance ink. wish you could see the shimmer!!!! this was quick and fun to make! i think i will be making more of these - don't know why layouts have to ALWAYS take days and weeks to figure out? how about you? do you sometimes just scrap for the pure fun of it, or do you always want to create a masterpiece? would love to hear from you! xxxxx
