from salad to steak...
last time i blogged i was mixing a salad. tonight i am going to have myself a steak.........first off - THANK you to everyone who sent a mail and knew someting was amiss after my previous post. God bless you and i am so thankful for you all. sometimes it is a good thing to stand back and literally climb out of your circumstances to get some perspective. i used to always think that you had to handle everything - and handle it well, without anyone knowing that you were "handling" anything! smile and wave, boys, smile and wave. the past two weeks have seen me make some major life changes and most of them only i know about and maybe 5 other people - who, out of necessity, had to be informed. for the rest of the world, it is business as usual! i have dealt with a few issues - i have realised that i inadvertently have unrealistic expectations of people - not that i SAY it in so many words, but i just do, and then i get disappointed very easily. i have decided to relax my expectations and remember that we are all just HUMAN, after all. our view of the world is different - what i might see as normal, someone else from a very different background views as crazy, and vice versa. i think i can still be shocked at what people do, but in a fallen world, i have to almost EXPECT it, and then deal with it, without being so perplexed. so, one issue dealt with!! i have also decided to be more graceful to myself as well - maybe we need to forgive ourselves in order to learn to really forgive others? hmmmmmmmm. tall order. anyway, the photo above is of a magical place to me - Oubos. i have been going there since before i was born, and i don't think i always realise how priviliged i am to be able to have a safe haven there. a place where i can escape from civilisation and noise, and just be completely quiet. it is the most beautiful place on earth and i think everyone should have an "oubos". find yours............even if it is a deserted street on a Sunday afternoon. i have been busy trying to finish my HOPEFULLY last big order from the USA for 2010. hours and hours in front of the PC - i don't think people realise how many little pictures you have to look at, click to put it in the basket, then go back to the main page! as all the South Africans know, internet is painfully slow in South Africa, and where i live even slower........but, the end is almost in sight. i have to place it by the 8th of September, so i only have 4 days left.....................have been sitting here in front of the PC for over 4 hours now, and i need a break!!
i never seize to be amazed at the talent some people have! donsie found a template for this shoe somewhere on the internet. so she made a few. annatjie then decided that it would be a great idea to sell them. so, they made a few shoes and gift boxes, and today was market day! just look at what you can do with one sheet of paper, some ribbon and an embellishment or two!
this blue shoe was a stunner............very classy and elegant
and then there was a lady who made these table runners with the main feature being TEABAGS!!! used ones at that! i was amazed! i immediately took some for the shop! she makes them to order and they are about R100-00 for one that is a metre long. i think it is a bargain!
that's about it for my break..............need to get back to that order so that i can just make some ATC's for the swaps tomorrow! i am sitting here eating left over cold mince with a teaspoon. i wonder what my mother would say...............bless you all. xxxxx
