the joy of teaching....

every second week my shop manageress, Donsie, has to go to a very, very small rural town called Kareedouw, to teach a mixed media/altered art/beyond the page project. these ladies do not scrap. they play and create!

this week's project was based on an item that Monica Perold made for our shop as a decorative piece. she says she was inspired by something she saw a while back on someone's blog, but she forgot to save the link. SO, if this was your idea originally - please claim credit! we have modified it considerably from even Monica's template to make it teachable in 3 hours. the ladies thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

there were 8 ladies in total, and this is but one of the items that were finished. the kits are available for purchase and now they all have lots of ideas for birthday presents and upcoming mother's and father's day gifts! we are always looking for ideas and projects to teach our ladies - if you have an "off-page" project you are willing to share - please do so! we are willing to pay for it if you are from South Africa, and if you are from overseas - we have lots of stock in the shop that you might like! the item must be easy enough to be taught in 3 hours to intermediate students and should be affordable. this whole kit, as it is here, retails for only R120-00 ( just to give you an idea) - that includes the hardwood scallop background base, the chipboard, the corrugated board, the foil, the buttons, the paper, the pearls, the CS for the title and all the miscellaneous items. for the overseas people - that is about $15-00. see you later with the final post of the weekend!!
