remember......
another saturday has passed.......another week under the belt! at Scrap and Stamp we had a fun challenge this week - use stripes, a large title and tearing on your page (with a stamp somewhere, of course!!) i was very excited about the challenge! i used some of Fabscraps' beautiful paper for my layout. as you know, i am trying to use something from the shop once a week, and something from my stash! hopefully that way i will be able to showcase my stock and also use up my stash!! lol! so far so good! i knew i wanted to make a vintage layout, so i dug into the heap of photoalbums i inherited when my grandmother passed away. i found these two great pictures. it was taken in about 1952, and has my grandmother with my father and his youngest brother in it at the beach.
i used only 2 patterned papers - one for the base and one for the tearing strip. i then chose a dark red plain CS for the matting and for the elements. i also used a rubon by Glitz Girls that i got in September 2009 at the Scrapbook Convention. can't wait for this year's convention!!! i punched 3 circles with different size punches and added them to the layout. they looked a bit bare to me, so i sat looking at them for a while, and a really (stupid) brilliant idea hit me - what about some hand stitching!!! now, no one will know why i decided to make so many little stitches - i do not recommend it, it took me about an hour!!! it gives some texture, but it was quite a job!! i then added a vintage button and a brad to the other 2 circles for features.
i used an Enmarc whiteboard word for the title that i embossed with Ranger's Weathered White Embossing Powder. it is a stunning product! it gives a real weathered effect and i LOVE it! one of my top 10 embossing powders!! i then stamped one of my Autumn Leaves Flourishes with Memento Dark Brown and added some Kaisercraft pearls to the edges of the swirl. for journaling i printed it on some vanilla cardstock and added a very old leftover little rubon in the corner and a small MM button! this was a fun layout to do! now, all you have to do is visit Scrap and Stamp and enter the challenge!!! show us what you have got, and you could win a great prize!
