Sarah Kay Card
hi everyone! it is a cloudy and cool Sunday - the dishes have been done, the chicken is being defrosted for Sunday lunch, then church and a nice, peaceful day lies ahead! my fellow card maker and stamper, Rene, sent me this image when i just decided that i wanted to colour with copics. i had been skipping this one - it just looked to complicated to colour! but, when i saw how beautiful Holley had coloured her stamped images with her Derwent Inktense Pencils, and I was actually scared to use mine, (more unsure of HOW to ) and she sent me a nice tutorial on how to use them, i decided to take the plunge! I used my inktense pencils to first colour the image, and then i used my Tombow Blending pen to blend the colours. Holley used her Stampin Up Blender pen - we don't have Stampin Up products in South Africa at all, so I had to make it work! i don't think it blended as well - but i am quite happy with the overall effect. i used stickles on the hats and glossy accents on the little patches on their jeans, their pockets and the bow in the girl's hair. My only boo-boo was the outline - i used the wrong colour Copic - C-3 instead of a BG10 or something, like you are supposed to.
i then decided to cut the image out - and lift it. overall not too bad, but i need lots of practice with the Inktense pencils. i started on a Tilda as well, did the whole thing so nicely, and then the face bled when i used the blender pen - obviously the ink it was stamped with was not meant for watercolour!
i am busy working on a double page scrapbook layout - i just can't seem to finish it, these cards are so much fun to make! i have a whole wishlist of items i need to improve my cardmaking skills - i think a nestabilities labels die is first on the list!! anyway, have a SUPER Sunday, and MAYBE i will have that page posted later........
