Behold wonder........

what a wonderful day it is today!! we have had rain the whole week almost, and what was a dry, barren, brown landscape a week ago, is today draped in God's splendour - the grass is green, the flowers are bright, the birds and other bugs are happily dancing in the garden, and everything is praising the Lord!!
we had to submit a layout with TEXTURE for this week's challenge at Scrap and Stamp Saturday. the photo was taken at the beach house a while back, but the glorious sunset just begged to be used for this layout! i started off by randomly pressing my kitchen goldilocks into my Galaxy Gold Brilliance inkpad, and dabbing it directly onto the cardstock for a subtle effect.

i used corrugated board - yes, i took a normal cardboard box and ripped it apart. i randomly added distress embossing powder and some Gold UTEE and embossed it. dragged my Walnut Stain distress ink around the edges afterwards. i then added some big silver brads. i also cut a piece of board into a circle and painted it with a yellow glaze paint.
here i cut a corner from the board and used some mica paint to just add some more texture. i also added some yellow acrylic paint to a clean piece of corrugated cardboard, and stamped the grid here.
i used the negative of the sequin piece as a stencil and added subtle texture to my journaling block with some chalk. a few flowers and some buttons (have to have a button!!) together with the bundle of ribbons in the top corner, completes the layout.
i hope you like it and that this week's challenge will inspire you to use THINGS on your layouts - i did not use one ready made embellishment here, it was all handmade, (except for the ribbon and buttons) and also no Patterned Paper!! what do you think?
please let me know! hop on over to Scrap and Stamp Saturday and enter the challenge - there are great prizes up for grabs and you never know - you might be the next winner!!!!
