sugar and spice...........

hello all!! the challenge over at Scrap and Stamp Saturday today is SUGAR AND SPICE! well, i tell you, i am so thankful that we just had the summer holidays and Christmas - otherwise i don't think i would have had any pictures for this layout! i don't think people with kids understand how hard it sometimes is for people like me who only have their husbands and dogs to scrap!! my PA decided that i had to adopt some of her kids for layouts, and i started with that, and one of them also features here!

when i heard Sugar and Spice, i immediately thought of the gorgeous American Crafts paperpack i received last year in September at the Scrapbook Convention. the selection is called Moda Bella. very vibrant and young. when i went searching through my pictures, the photos taken on this day just matched perfectly. BUT, what to do with all the pictures and the paper??? i had taken about 200 of the kids on this day, and i knew i wanted to use as many as i could. i printed the main picture about 5"x 5" and then all the little ones about 2 x 2, with an exception here and there. i then cut out some of the circle elements from one of the patterned papers and a strip each of two other papers. i arranged them all at the bottom of the page. for my title i knew i wanted to use my cuttlebug alpha. but i was not sure if i had the right color of cardstock for SPICE, so i just painted a scrap of cardstock with my Making Memories acrylic paint in the turquoise color that perfectly matched the layout. for the SUGAR word i realised that i did not have a matching pink paint so i found some felt first (but did not like the look of it) then i remembered that i had lots of different colors of fun foam.!! so i just did the SUGAR from the pink fun foam. i cut the & from white cardstock. for the accent pieces i used two new colors in my Alcohol Ink collection - Raspberry and Juniper. i spread some stickles over it, and when it was dry, i punched out various sizes of circles from the inked glossy cs and leftovers of the painted cs and some white circles. i then stamped my scroll with the same acrylic paint, and after it was dry, i just layered the circles on top of each other. when it was finished, it looked very bare to me, so i just did a faux stitch here and there to differentiate some of the accents. i added 3 buttons to the right hand top corner (have to have a button on a layout!!!!) and then did the journaling freehand around the edges.

I do hope you like the layout -please leave a comment if you do! Gail got some DIVINE embossing powders in stock this week - Magenta and Turquoise from Ranger, and it would have complimented my colors PERFECTLY...........guess where i am off to now.......ALSO - i got a HUGE gift from my husband..........those drawers i was waiting for, for my stamps.........i took lots of pictures and will post about that later. i am so excited! i LOVE them!! AND they are bigger and better than i thought! and he made it himself! they are PERFECT!!!
