amy.......

this is my friend Gail's granddaughter, Amy. she is JUST like her granny was when Gail was a child. always posing! i learnt that about Gail when she came to show me her finished Family Matters album that she did while at the Hogscrap retreat a week ago. she loved the album and it really took her down memory lane! she gave me this photo and a few others, knowing that i don't have kids, and i am always looking for something to scrap! today i had to scrap away from home, and i grabbed a few items, deciding to challenge myself! i took the leftover bag from the Scrapbook Convention that housed the Prima goodies. there were one piece of patterned paper, three big white flowers, two smaller ones, the left over blue vine, the canvas alphabet and the felt strips in it. i also took a Tim Holtz ornate frame, a small box with some Tim Holtz metals, chocolate glimmer mist and green smooch. i took a cream and a turquoise cardstock, glossy accents, craft knife and ruler. and one last ingredient, Tea Dye Distress ink!! there was also a sheet of Prime stickers left in the bag.

as i only had one photo, i decided to focus on it. i sanded it off around the edges, and matted it on the turquoise cs. i then cut some leaves from the patterned paper. i also used the packaging of the alphabet as another half mat. i sprayed the flowers with both mists. i then randomly sprayed my page with both mists as well. it looked very bland, so i wanted to add the diamond shaped sticker border in the middle of the page. the colour was so light, and the distress ink did not want to colour it, as it was too slick. i then placed it on the layout and used it as a mask, blending the distress ink over it. i removed it and i am quite happy with the outcome! i wrote "Christmas 2009" on a piece of leftover packaging - i had nothing else to journal on! one mistake i made, was to put the title, AMY, on before i knew where i wanted the ornate frame. that is why the "Y" is a bit obscured............. i will know better next time! you live, you learn! hope you like it!
