Family Layout

i made this layout for the Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge. it had to be all about family. my family is very widespread, and some members i have not seen for many years. my husband, on the other hand, has most of his family within an hour away. so, i decided to use a single photo of X'mas 2008, when we were all at my in-laws, as the focus of my layout.
for my second main feature, i decided to journal about families. i do think there are alot of misconceptions about how we should treat family members. i also think that we use the word LOVE to easily, without really knowing what it really means universally. how do we love different people? really?

i used my Tim Holtz Grunge Alphabet to do the title. stamped each letter on Prism Kraft Cardstock and embossed it with Rust EP from Ranger. i then cut each letter out and glued it underneath the photo.

i then added some stickles to a few areas on the flower corner. love how that just birghtens some of the flowers! just a subtle sparkle.
the buttons were the final touch together with some stitching here and there. this was a quick and fun layout. the colors were a bit out of my comfort zone, but i really liked the way it turned out! please leave a comment to let me know what you think - some pointers will also be welcome!

This is a really lovely lo Cariena!! The photos that appeared on my latest blog post were taken at a friend of a friend's farm which is about 40 minutes out on the Wasbank road. It was so awesome to be so close to those awesome creatures. Giraffe's are my favourite!! How is your hubby by the way??
