aged tags
my good friend Hester always asks me to make tags for her storage bins when she has been dong some spring cleaning.............she arrived at my office today with a whole list! normally it's one or two, but she had a whole pile! i love making these. i had bought a box of these small tags (500 of them) when i was introduced to tags by Jowilna. she used the big shipping tags, but the South African ones were not the same quality as the American Tag ones, and the small ones are even worse. they are like sponges.........you can hardly do a technique on them, they just absorb everything. BUT they are brilliant to use as labels.
i distress the edges first off with my Tim Holtz Tonic distresser, and then I use Tea Dye distress ink to blend and age a bit. then i use my Making Memories Magnetic Stamp set to stamp the various labels. after that i use gel medium to give them all a protective coat - after all they are going to be handled! and voila! maybe in the next 10 years i will use up those tags! i have given away about a 100 to various friends and even 2 shops!!
