Kaisercraft at Scrapbookex....

the next instalment in my Scrapbook Convention File is KAISERCRAFT! Melissa Kennedy from the Kaiser family did a very intricate layout that involved LOTS of cutting out! but, first about them...
i am pictured here with Melissa and Brenton (he is not her son). Brenton is 20 years old and the International Sales Manager for Africa and Asia. Yup. 20 years old. Melissa is family of Mr Kaiser, and has been with the company for over 4 years. she is very passionate about what she does. she got very emotional when she explained her reasoning behind the quote on the BEYOND THE PAGE project - i think i can understand......

well, my layout once again has pictures that i suppose don't really go with the theme of the paper - Penny Royale is all girly and nice, but i tried to get it as neutral as possible........i am sure the red in Christoff's shirt is picked up by at least SOME of the reds....!! It really involved alot of cutting out and layering. this seems to be kind of Melissa's trade mark - but i suppose it is fitting, as she explained the way Kaiser's ranges work. here is a close up fo the left page's layering - we cut up a whole page that had lots of flowers on it, different shapes and sizes.
we also got to do alot of stamping - of course that was right up my alley - except that it was the last class of the day, and i really did not feel like fighting for a spot in the heatgun queue!!

one thing we did not get in our kits were alpha's to do the title. i used my SLICE and cut up some paper that i first stamped with an image from the Penny Royale set. i then used some GLOSSY ACCENTS to highlight it after i had layered it onto thin chipboard, just to make sure that it does not curl - i hate it when that happens. all in all it was actually fun to do some cutting - i never do that - i am too impatient and it seems very tedious to do that. i spent the last two nights cutting out all the flowers and today i spent layering them when i had time. i think i might start doing that more often - i don't know why i always want to finish a page in 10 minutes!

next up i tackled the BEYOND THE PAGE project. it was quick and fun - and something personal for Melissa, but i think all of us scrappers/stampers/crafters can relate.........maybe every female out there who is struggling to just be herself and not conform to society's standards, but stick to her guns??? anyway, it involved a plain rectangle of their special wood and three smaller squares that we first painted and then covered with our photo's. once again, more flowers that were cut out and layered, and as i lost my rubon quote (the main feature) i just printed it on the paper this afternoon and adhered it. i love the typewriter font, so it's not that bad....the quote really made me think. i had recently made a decision that i knew was the right one, as i had prayed about it for a long time - my execution was not perfect - but i was still worried that "my life as i knew it", would be over. (strange how dramatic we can be about certain things...). my life did not end - as a matter of fact, i now know that it was the right thing to do, but my biggest worry was - WHAT WOULD EVERYONE SAY? i think we sometimes continue doing things that go against US - just in order not to be the "odd one out". i am trying very hard to find out who I AM - so that I will NEVER lose MYSELF again.....
